Awaken to our own joy!

Sometimes meandering down a new path brings us unexpected magic…

just as writing from a clear space gives a fresh perspective.

When you write from that place of your soul voice…a new depth of meaning comes into your work.

I have been working on my book
as many of you know
for quite a few years now.
Four to be exact.

Now that I am in the process of compiling my work I am really struck by the simplicity of the story that needs to be shared. Not all the background, behind the scenes that I think we get caught up in as writers.

I do not know where you are at with your writing journey or if you are a “journalist” as my bonus son once called me. But I encourage you to just have some fun with your writing and ‘just write’ little thoughts that come to you.

Because it really is a conversation when you write…that you are having with your soul.

Trying to pigeonhole oneself…into a defined space doesn’t fit.

For so many years we may have tried to pigeonhole ourselves into being a certain way.

Trying to fit into a box of our own making.
Perhaps feeling like we did not belong.

Somewhere along the way in our journey
may we find ways to be ourselves…

to not be defined by a space that no longer exists.

The journey of triumph is for the brave…
the courageous.

Those of us whom wield the sword
of truth with our writing.

Letting the words speak
of strength…

and great understanding
of the warrior within.

Join the journey

Live. In Dreams Awake

“Begin again to live out your dreams…
One moment. One step. One breath at a time.” – Te’

Perhaps today with the sounds of wild life.
With the soft falling rain. The distance river.

I will let myself feel held.
In the knowing that I am not alone on this journey.

A journey that I have felt so abandoned. So alone.
And many times so afraid to live my dreams.

Not so much for fear of what lie ahead,
but “how” I am going to get there…

To where I am going.

Is here.

In this moment.
I pause.

To Live. In Dreams Awake.

Thoughts on Writing

I am attempting to remember the thoughts that echoed through my mind earlier.
Now as I recall the words, I am finding instead a humble remembrance for all that I am.

The longing to write.
The desire to trust that I am on my path.

My heart is racing with the cadence of my hands.
Hands that have held longing…

What is it going to take to actually let myself immerse in my own writing?
Not just the daily chatter of my morning musings, but fully completely devoted to the task of completion?

It is a journey.
A process that I have been making for half of my life.

There is no need to question how it gets done.
It only matters that I am making steps each day on my path.

The ‘how’ is in the doing of what one knows to do.
Each day you may think that you will begin the day in another way.

That you will not loose yourself in endless reading.
Yet you watch the time slip from you as you escape into another world.
Another place that you may feel temporarily safe.

The guilt is beginning to creep in on you.
Yet you waver in bed longer.
The sun’s been up…

How do others; as artists, poets, writers, and fellow “creatives” engage their energy and time?
Instead of beating ourselves up…can we find gratitude in the moments that we do take to create?
To trust that this day you will find the determination to begin anew.

You are creating your life work.
Honor the process…

May this piece, this poem, this musing provide some compassion.
As we find joy in the journey however it may unfold!
