Freedom in Forgiveness

“There is freedom in forgiveness.”

…but in my growing up years
I AM learning that in forgiveness

there is freedom.
There is more room and space for love.

Walk with Empathy

image

May we walk with empathy today…

I think we as a society can be too quick to judge.
Often times we think we know better than another.

But do we really?

Have we actually walked in another’s shoes?
Do we carry their hidden scars as our own?

Do we wake up from their nightmares,
in the middle of the night, drenched in their sweat?

Do we grieve silently their tears for a loss
or heartache that we may never have experienced?

Do we really have any right to condemn another
who has walked through the fire of their own life?

Who has been brave enough
to take another breath?

Who are we to say what is right or wrong?

Yet we do each day.
More than we realize.

We judge one another and ourselves harshly.
Eloquently.

We whisper behind closed doors,
in an attempt that they might not hear us.

I don’t know about you,
but I am tired of it.

If you are not here showing up for your life…

Creating your heart out.
Getting up after you fall down.

Stay right where you are.
Breathe into that space that feels hard to reach.

Walk with empathy…in your own shoes!

Even So

image

I don’t want to be fixed
because you think I’m broken

even if I am.

I don’t want to be ignored
because you think it may make everything go away

even if it won’t.

I don’t want to be any other way
because you think it is how I am supposed to be

even if I may.

I simply want to be free to be me
because I think I know what’s best for me

even if you don’t.

As I acknowledge with gratitude
celebrating and loving who I AM

even so.

A Mother’s Reflection

image

I may have never held you in my arms as an infant,
welcoming you into the world through sweat and tears.

But I have held you in my heart like a precious being.
A whisper of love.

I may have not been there to celebrate your first words,
your first steps or your first birthday.

But I have held you in my heart as we celebrated together.

I may not have been there for many
of your very early years…

I can honestly say this now as a mother.
I have loved you since I first held you in my arms.

When I first welcomed you into my world as you welcomed me.
I have loved you for the first of our life together and always.

Thank you for the firsts you have shared with me,
both your sorrows and your triumphs.

I love you very dearly and am blessed too by your love.
As your ‘bonus’ mama.

I wrote this poem for my two bonus son’s who daily teach me to love…especially the things in life we don’t always understand or want too.

This poem is also written for those of us who have had the honour of being a mom without the stretch marks to prove it!

Enjoy celebrating the wonder of being a mother! – Te’

Sacred Mother

image

We are blessed with what I believe is one of the most important roles on earth…being a mother.

To cherish and love
To nurture and protect
To teach and guide
To honor

Above all to encourage our children to grow up to be themselves.

As a mother we are bestowed with a precious gift.
Especially during challenges.

We as mother’s must remember what our role is…
Always to love.

Smile and listen
Radiate joy through our eyes
Laugh with pure delight

May you honour this sacred role of being a Mother.

Some of us by choice or circumstance have not be able to give birth in this lifetime. However, what I am speaking of is those children placed in our life…to hold sacred.
